Weekly Time Card Calculator

Enter each day's start, end and unpaid break — get daily totals, a week total and overtime.

This time card calculator totals a full week. Enter each day's start and end time and any unpaid break in minutes, and it returns the hours for that day, the week's total in both notations, and how much of it falls over the forty-hour overtime threshold. Entries stay in your browser between visits, so a card can be filled in as the week goes.

How the maths is done

Each day is end minus start, minus the unpaid break. A shift that ends earlier than it starts is treated as crossing midnight and gets a full day added, so night shifts total correctly. Daily figures are shown in hours:minutes and in decimal hours, and the week's regular and overtime split uses the forty-hour federal threshold — overtime pay basics covers the states that also apply a daily rule.

Breaks, rounding and disputes

Deduct only genuinely unpaid, uninterrupted breaks; short rest breaks are typically paid. If your employer rounds punches, the rounding must be neutral rather than consistently in the employer's favour — see time card rounding rules. Keeping your own copy of the week is the simplest protection against a payroll dispute.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter an overnight shift?
Enter the times as they happened, for example 22:00 to 06:00. When the end time is earlier than the start, the calculator treats it as crossing midnight and adds the full day.
What time formats are accepted?
Most sensible ones: 9:00, 0900, 9.5, and 5:00 PM are all understood, so you can type whatever matches your own card.
How is overtime calculated?
Anything over 40 hours in the workweek is shown separately as overtime. Some states also require overtime after a set number of hours in a single day, which this weekly view does not apply.
Are my entries saved?
Yes, in your browser on this device only. Nothing is uploaded, and clearing your browser data clears the card.
